History

Sometime in 1996, RCMS Ann, Carolina “Carol” Llanillo brought up the invitation of Ms. Consuelo “Baby”Puyat to the Anns of Rotary Club of Makati South to join the Inner Wheel Clubs of the Phil. Inc. District 381 of which she was Chairman. A number of Anns expressed interest in the idea and signed up for membership. Thus, the club of eighteen (18) charter members and the first of its kind in Makati were named Inner Wheel Club of Makati. Upon its Chartering on September 28, 1996, then IWCPI PP Dr. Mary Calalang inducted Carolina “Carol” Llanillo as Charter President; Gloria “Baby” Golez, Vice-President; Evelyn Ledesma, Secretary, Teresita ”Tess” Evangelista, Asst.Treasurer and Lydia David as Treasurer. IWCPI President Ms. Sylva Paderangga was guest speaker.

To help raise the much needed funds, the club’s annual Ballroom Dancing anniversary celebration became its biggest annual fundraising event starting from the term of PP Lydia David. The regular monthly meetings have served as fellowships and get-togethers, a tradition that has been passed on among incumbent Presidents and which has been one the many secret ingredients in keeping the members’ enthusiasm, support and cooperation alive and strong. The best testament for these are its Hall of Fame status received in 2008 after winning first place for at least five (5) consecutive years in the IWCPI Photo Exhibit Contest; the club’s Most Outstanding Club Award received for at least five (5) consecutive years; and Most Outstanding Club President Award garnered by many of its Presidents in all of its thirteen years.
